Yamaoka recalls the potent creative spark that ignited the franchise, noting that Konami has remained faithful to that initial spark. He believes the “philosophical approach” continues to mirror the spirit of the early entries.

Because of this enduring vision, Yamaoka expressed that he was “honored” to be the first person director Christophe Gans invited to screen Return to Silent Hill. After viewing various cuts, he noted that the cinematic adaptation “perfectly captures the atmosphere I envisioned for Silent Hill 2.”

When asked to name a favorite protagonist, Yamaoka eventually pointed toward Harry Mason from the debut game. “We built that character from the ground up,” he explained. “I have incredibly fond memories of that process. At the time, a game centered on a father’s desperate search for his daughter was a truly groundbreaking concept.”
