Charlie’s Angels icon Cameron Diaz and British star Stephen Merchant (The Outlaws) are set to lead a new romantic comedy for Amazon MGM Studios.
The story follows a hotel employee (Merchant) who enters into a marriage of convenience with a stand-up comic (Diaz) in desperate need of health insurance. However, as their arrangement progresses, the pair discovers that their fabricated feelings are becoming unexpectedly real.
Merchant is also slated to direct the currently untitled project. While a release date has not yet been confirmed, Diaz’s upcoming slate includes the Netflix thriller Back in Action and her highly anticipated return as the voice of Princess Fiona in Shrek 5.
