Seven years after its release, players are still discovering new mysteries in Red Dead Redemption 2

Dedicated players are racing to crack a newfound enigma within the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 before the eventual launch of GTA VI.

Red Dead Redemption 2, which debuted in 2018, has long been celebrated for its staggering depth, featuring a dense landscape of side quests, hidden secrets, and buried treasures. Now, more than seven years after its release, the community is rallying to solve a cryptic puzzle dubbed the “Spider Dream Mystery.”

The investigation was sparked by the discovery of spiderwebs that only manifest at specific times of day. Internal game files refer to the feathers found on these webs as “spiderdream,” which provided the name for this unfolding investigation.

The trail begins at a telegraph pole situated near Cornwall Kerosene & Tar, marked by a spider carving. A web containing a feather occasionally appears at the top of this pole, though only during a very narrow temporal window. The carved spider serves as a pointer, directing players toward seven other webs that share a similar pattern.

These webs materialize in the dead of night—usually appearing between 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM—before vanishing as the sun rises. At the center of this “spider” formation lies a larger web visible only between 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM. While it doesn’t contain feathers, viewing it from a specific angle reveals the letter “N” formed against the silhouette of the telegraph pole.

Guided by this clue, players traveled due north from the central web to find another pole that can be “dismantled” through gunfire. Shooting away the wood reveals the letter “W” and a tally marking five poles.

By moving five poles to the west, enthusiasts discovered yet another interactive pole. Clearing the wood on this one reveals the inscription “NW” alongside a symbol strikingly similar to a guitar.

At this point, the trail has gone cold. Moving northwest leads players toward a physical guitar located in Fort Wallace and eventually to Spider Gorge, but so far, interacting with these environments has yielded no further results.

The community is currently deep in experimentation, attempting to shoot feathers in specific sequences and scouring the map for overlooked indicators. While the ultimate solution remains elusive, the hunt for the final piece of the Spider Dream continues.
