The project is being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
Independent studio Cognition has announced the release window for its debut title. The sci‑fi exploration and survival adventure Lunar Strike is scheduled to launch in May 2026 on Steam for PC and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Lunar Strike takes place on the Moon, where humanity struggles to preserve its legacy amid an approaching catastrophe. The protagonist, Bo — an “astro‑archivist” augmented with technological implants — is tasked with salvaging artifacts and the cultural heritage of the last lunar colony before a celestial anomaly destroys it.
The Cognition Europe team says they were inspired by real initiatives to protect cultural monuments and by the ethical dilemmas of space colonization. The developers stress that their goal is to encourage players to reflect on humanity’s future and the legacy we will leave behind.
There is no combat in the game: the gameplay centers on survival, exploration, puzzle solving, and moral decision‑making. Players will operate under tight time constraints, environmental decay, and mounting pressures — both physical and emotional.
Realism has been given particular attention. Lunar Strike is being developed in collaboration with scientists who study the lunar environment and incorporates authentic physical factors: low gravity, toxic lunar dust, and the danger of meteorite impacts.
