Retro FPS Dusk strafes into early entry

Duskheader

Here’s a (partial) listing of the issues that explode within the early entry trailer for David Szymanski’s retro FPS Dusk: demonic cattle, troopers, cultists, wizards, skeletal moose and a zombie ghost farmer. As in, a farmer that appears like a zombie ghost – I’m unsure what he spends his time farming. Souls, in all probability.

Dusk launched on early entry final evening. Dominic Tarason reports that the preview builds he’s performed have excelled at scratching his old-school shooter itch, so this might be one value trying out.

The present construct options two out of the three episodes that will likely be included with the total recreation, which the devs think about “extremely polished and practically finished”, together with the Duskworld aggressive multiplayer. It additionally contains two out of three infinite enviornment ranges, with the ultimate enviornment stage and marketing campaign episode to comply with in “the next few months” when the sport releases correct.

Mac and Linux help will comply with after launch, together with Steam Workshop help and co-op.

I’ve to admit that apart from Devil Daggers, I haven’t actually dipped into this new wave of retro FPS’s. Which is foolish, as a result of though I’m not wizened sufficient to get in on the nostalgia I’m a giant fan of twitchy, mobility-focused shooters. Seen as I’m but to get my mitts on the sport, right here’s Dominic’s tackle it:

“Having played several preview builds of the game leading up to this point, Dusk feels like a blend of Quake 1, Blood and Doom. Not quite replicating the feel of any one game, but picking many of the most exciting elements from each. It’s a fast-paced, twitchy thing where enemies hit hard and mobility is the only road to survival, thanks to enemies exclusively using solid projectile attacks.”

Yeah, I would like me a few of that.

You can decide up Dusk on Steam for £15/$20/€20, which will likely be its post-launch value too.
