Gritsay acknowledges that while Night City has its Badlands, he views these parallels as an advantage rather than a drawback. “We see it as our secret weapon,” he suggests, noting that it allows the studio to subvert expectations rather than delivering a generic, “cookie-cutter” cyberpunk experience.
Brief hands-on time suggests he’s onto something. While Replaced tackles existential questions about the essence of humanity, its world feels markedly more hopeful than CD Projekt Red’s nihilistic sprawl. Outside the city walls, players witness genuine human solidarity and community—proving that even in the wake of an apocalypse, not every soul is lost to the dark.
“It’s a dynamic we can use to our benefit,” Gritsay concludes. “We’re showing that this isn’t just another standard genre piece.”
Replaced is slated for release on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on March 12, 2026. Be sure to check out other major titles heading to Xbox later this year!
