RDR2 modders unveil ambitious, canon‑faithful recreation of RDR1’s Mexico — essentially a full DLC (no exploits required)

Modder Rixus has shared a trailer for Nuevo Paraíso, an upcoming fan project described as “coming soon.” The mod rebuilds the fictional Mexican region of the same name that originally appeared in the first Red Dead Redemption.

Portions of Nuevo Paraíso’s map and assets are already present inside Red Dead Redemption 2, but Rockstar never intended players to explore the area. While the coastline is visible from the shore, actually reaching the region on foot requires glitches, exploits or a lot of patience — and once there, there’s very little to interact with.

According to the project page, the mod is an “ambitious recreation of the Mexican territory from RDR1, completely expanded and enhanced.” Rixus says the team has painstakingly rebuilt every town, settlement and camp, and added distinct vegetation zones to give each region its own character.

Beyond scenery, the mod aims to feel alive: NPCs follow daily schedules similar to the base game, and Rixus has implemented several small side missions. The developer describes the release as a “full‑fledged DLC” in scope.

Nuevo Paraíso will be distributed via Nexus Mods once it’s ready.

A new Red Dead Redemption port is reportedly coming to multiple platforms — including Switch 2 and Netflix — promising free upgrades and a range of enhancements.
