Now, over two decades later, Krafton is translating this rich literary universe into a digital powerhouse with Project Windless—a visceral, large-scale action RPG featuring a protagonist unlike any other: a legendary, sword-wielding Rekon warrior.
While the concept of an avian protagonist might sound whimsical, the reality is far more grit than grace. Project Windless delivers a dark, hyper-stylized combat experience reminiscent of the “musou” genre. The reveal trailer, showcased during the latest PlayStation State of Play, features the anthropomorphic Rekon tearing through massive legions of enemies with lethal precision, proving that this feathered fighter is a force of nature on the battlefield.

The footage suggests a high-stakes narrative centering on the Rekon’s quest to topple a serpentine sorceress who preaches a philosophy of “purity” while commanding a soulless army. Krafton describes the title as a single-player, open-world action RPG where players inhabit a mythic era. As a Rekon, players must navigate a breathtaking yet war-torn landscape, confronting impossible odds to unite a shattered world.

Although a firm release date remains elusive—and the “Project” moniker suggests the title is still early in its journey—Krafton has confirmed that development is currently underway for the PlayStation 5.
