Not everyone is thrilled by Bethesda’s latest release.
Bethesda has recently released Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition. The refreshed edition bundles previously released DLC alongside a selection of Creation Club content.
Many members of the Fallout 4 PC community are far from happy with this launch. Some prepared ahead of the release by disabling automatic updates — worried that their mods might be affected.
Players argue that there should be an option to toggle between the new and the old versions — it’s technically feasible to create a separate Steam branch:
Typical Bethesda. They not only released an update that broke mods and created more headaches, but also refused to spend a few minutes setting up a public branch so players could keep using the older version without worrying about compatibility. Instead they pushed an update that includes paid Creation Club content. Simply create a separate branch so we have the choice to update to the latest build or remain on the previous one, without fearing that updates will break mod compatibility. All it would take is a few minutes in Steamworks on your side.
Steam users began awarding Bethesda’s announcement of Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition with “clown” medals (the award is officially called “Jester,” but in the Steam community it’s often used as an insult).
