Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog cinematic universe is rapidly broadening its horizons, with fans now anticipating more than just big-screen adventures.
According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, Paramount Pictures has greenlit the development of a fresh live-action spin-off series for the Paramount+ streaming service. This marks the franchise’s second television venture, following the success of the Idris Elba-led Knuckles series.
Paramount is clearly doubling down on its commitment to the “Blue Blur.” The studio previously confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is slated for a March 2027 theatrical release, along with another “top-secret” film set within the same universe, currently scheduled to hit cinemas in December 2028.
Details regarding the lead character for this upcoming series remain under wraps. Speculation is rife that the project could either be a second season of Knuckles or a standalone story centered on Shadow the Hedgehog or Amy Rose. While Shadow made his debut in the third installment, Amy Rose is expected to be introduced in the fourth film. Rumors further suggest that SEGA might designate 2027 as the “Year of Amy,” though these reports remain unconfirmed. For now, a specific release window for this mysterious television project has yet to be disclosed.
