Following the debut of Octopath Traveler 0 in December 2025, Square Enix confirmed that the franchise has officially eclipsed six million units in total sales.
The series first arrived in July 2018 as a Nintendo Switch exclusive before eventually expanding its reach to PC, Xbox One, PS4, and PS5. Its successor, Octopath Traveler II, launched in 2023 across most major platforms, with an Xbox version following in 2024. Both titles garnered significant acclaim for their deep tactical systems and the distinct, branching narratives of their eight primary protagonists.
In Octopath Traveler 0, players forge their own custom hero to lead the restoration of the devastated realm of Wishvale. This journey involves battling formidable adversaries while retrieving seven artifacts of immense power. The title features a roster of over 30 unique characters who can be recruited into the active party or invited to settle in the town as permanent residents. Combat has been expanded to support eight units on the battlefield, enabling the use of devastating ultimate skills. Additionally, a comprehensive town-building mechanic allows players to manage and extract vital resources for their adventure.
The game is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
