The technology is engineered to assist players in conquering exceptionally grueling levels or formidable bosses.
A recently surfaced Sony patent details a system capable of autonomously navigating difficult gameplay sequences whenever a user finds themselves stuck.
Although the application was submitted in September 2024, it only recently caught the attention of the media after the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) published a report on its current status.
According to the documentation, Sony is exploring the concept of a “ghost” assistant to provide help. This offers a more integrated and dynamic alternative to the existing PS5 Game Help feature; instead of static text prompts, an AI visualizes the necessary actions directly on the screen.
The framework includes several distinct modes: Story, Combat, Exploration, and Full Game. In combat scenarios, for example, the AI can demonstrate the most efficient strategies for defeating an enemy by highlighting precise timing and essential attack patterns.
Under the Full Game setting, the digital surrogate can take over entirely, completing a challenging section, a specific level, or a boss encounter on behalf of the player.
