That service has been the primary gateway to classic titles, yet fans have been pleading for a way to actually *own* these games outright rather than renting them through a subscription.
In many ways, Console Archives feels like the true heir to the Wii’s Virtual Console—a marketplace where you can build a permanent digital library of classics without the constraints of an ongoing membership.
The major question now is which libraries Hamster will be able to tap into. Arcade Archives already has a massive reach, even including Nintendo-owned arcade hits like Donkey Kong. If Nintendo allows third-party developers to sell first-party console classics individually on the eShop, we could be entering a brand-new era of accessibility for retro gaming.
