Console Archives and Arcade Archives 2 – Official Trailer – Nintendo Switch 2

The arrival of Ninja Gaiden II is particularly noteworthy because it only recently joined the Nintendo Switch Online catalog in November. That service has been the primary gateway to classic titles, yet fans have been pleading for a way to actually *own* these games outright rather than renting them through a subscription.
In many ways, Console Archives feels like the true heir to the Wii’s Virtual Console—a marketplace where you can build a permanent digital library of classics without the constraints of an ongoing membership.
The major question now is which libraries Hamster will be able to tap into. Arcade Archives already has a massive reach, even including Nintendo-owned arcade hits like Donkey Kong. If Nintendo allows third-party developers to sell first-party console classics individually on the eShop, we could be entering a brand-new era of accessibility for retro gaming.
