The prevailing theory among fans is that Kojima is preparing a reveal for a Death Stranding 2 PC port, a Director’s Cut, or potentially new story content. The community consensus leans heavily toward a major sequel update. “A Director’s Cut for DS2 has to be coming,” suggested one popular response.
“Is this a PC trailer for DS2?” asked another enthusiast. These speculations coincide with rumors of an upcoming Sony State of Play event scheduled for February 2026. Given Sony’s typical schedule, a showcase is expected soon, making it the ideal stage for a Kojima-led announcement.
While an update on OD is possible, it seems less likely following the Xbox Developer Direct held just two weeks ago. Furthermore, Physint remains shrouded in mystery and likely requires more development time before a substantial showcase. Death Stranding 2 remains the most logical candidate for an immediate trailer.
Interestingly, Kojima posted a remarkably similar tweet on the exact same date last year, though Death Stranding 2 was notably absent from that month’s State of Play. Whether this tease leads to a reveal or simply more mystery, Kojima’s signature brand of cryptic hype shows no signs of slowing down.
