Square Enix producer Yosuke Saito, the veteran creative behind the NieR series, has confirmed that he is now overseeing the Dragon Quest franchise alongside his work on NieR. During a recent year-end interview, he teased the development of several upcoming projects that he believes will leave fans thoroughly impressed.
The 40th anniversary of Dragon Quest is fast approaching—four decades is a truly remarkable milestone. Personally, after completing my tenure as producer for Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age and moving on to other things, I returned in April 2024 to lead Dragon Quest projects following a company-wide restructuring. We are currently in the thick of developing multiple titles, and I expect to have more to share in the near future. These are the kinds of reveals that will make you say, ‘Wow!’
Saito remains at the helm of the NieR franchise as well, hinting that a “small surprise” is currently in the works to celebrate the 9th anniversary of NieR: Automata.
