Nilfgaardian commander Menno Coehoorn will be reimagined as Mina Coehoorn in Netflix’s adaptation.
Filming for Netflix’s fifth season of The Witcher is nearing completion, and Redanian Intelligence continues to leak updates about the production. New reports indicate the adaptation will include a female incarnation of one of Nilfgaard’s prominent marshals — Marshal Coehoorn — a role that has been cast with Naomi Battrick (Queen of Serpents, His Dark Materials).
In Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, Marshal Menno Coehoorn served as Emhyr var Emreis’s chief lieutenant and led the Empire’s forces during the Second Northern War. He commanded Nilfgaardian troops at the decisive Battle of Brenna — one of the saga’s pivotal clashes — where Coehoorn meets his end. Redanian Intelligence reports the battle will be depicted in season five, suggesting the marshal’s destiny will likely remain intact.
Earlier reports noting Shani’s return and the inclusion of the Vrihedd Brigade further support plans to portray the Battle of Brenna on screen.
Besides Mina Coehoorn, the final season will introduce several original characters not present in the books. The newcomers include Tatiana Nardoni (Elora), Claire Cogan (Karina), Riley Woodward (Tavish) and Nadia Albina (Peggy).
The fifth season will serve as the series finale and is currently targeted for a 2026 release. In the meantime, viewers can look forward to season four — starring Liam Hemsworth as Geralt — which premieres on October 30.
