The developers are gearing up to celebrate a major milestone for the iconic franchise.
On December 31, the Diablo series officially hits its 29th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Blizzard is launching its annual commemorative event, “The Darkening of Tristram.”
Players are invited to tackle unique challenges to earn exclusive transmogrification appearances, legacy achievements, portraits, cosmetic pets, and a variety of other thematic rewards:
By unraveling the secrets of the cultists, you will soon step into a nostalgic world of RetroVision, returning to the hauntingly familiar cathedral. As you delve into its depths, you will face classic enemies and discover legendary artifacts—all beautifully reimagined within the Diablo III engine. Deep within the lower catacombs, the Lord of Terror himself awaits those bold enough to cross his path…
The “Darkening of Tristram” event in Diablo III is set to begin early next year. Mysterious cultists will descend upon Sanctuary starting January 1 at 3:00 AM MSK, while the temporal portal officially opens on January 4 at the same time. Both phases of the celebration are scheduled to conclude on February 1, 2026, at 3:00 AM MSK.
