Naoki Hamaguchi Promised a “More Compact” Structure in Final Fantasy VII: Part 3

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is expected to be followed by an unannounced Part 3, and Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura has reassured fans that the timetable for revealing information is being upheld. After bringing Intergrade to Xbox Series X/S and the Nintendo Switch 2, and with Rebirth released, the team has been increasingly open about their plans for Part 3.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi says the final instalment will have a “slightly more compact” structure compared to the second game. In an interview he addressed complaints about some chapters feeling overstretched:

Regarding the duration of certain sections in Rebirth, I honestly don’t believe they were longer than needed. Players today have many commitments and a lot of games vying for their time, which creates the impression that everything should conclude more quickly.

Hamaguchi added that the trilogy’s conclusion will strike a careful balance in storytelling so the experience feels tighter. He believes the ending will satisfy both long-time fans of the original and newcomers drawn in by the Remake.

“I’m confident this game will resonate with everyone.”

No exact release date for Part 3 has been announced, but unlike earlier entries it is planned to launch simultaneously on PS5, PC, Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2.
