Modder Showcases Gameplay for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Remake on Unreal Engine 5

While official remasters of the early “Harry Potter” games remain unlikely due to complex licensing issues and technical hurdles, the modding community is stepping up to modernize these beloved classics.

Recently, a developer known as MattShadd showcased gameplay from an ambitious remake of the original 2001 PC version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. This project leverages the advanced capabilities of Unreal Engine 5 to bring the wizarding world into the current generation.

In the video above, MattShadd demonstrates the reimagined “Lumos” level, providing a glimpse of how the atmosphere has been enhanced for the modern era:

“I’ve managed to establish a complete map-porting pipeline that includes dynamic objects and light sources. The Lumos level successfully integrates classic lighting aesthetics with modern shaders and partially updated textures.”
