Official Launch Trailer | Marathon

The debate over precision between mice and thumbsticks has persisted for decades. While PC users often enjoy a slight edge in twitch reflexes, Bungie’s decision to offer a choice at launch ensures that console players don’t feel forced into disadvantageous matchups.
As an extraction shooter, Marathon blends PvP and PvE elements. Unlike competitors such as Arc Raiders, Bungie won’t be segregating lobbies based on a player’s intent to focus on combat or exploration. However, the developer maintains that the game will still cater to those who wish to focus primarily on PvE objectives.
Following a recent State of Play announcement, a “server slam” event is scheduled for February 26. This limited-time event offers a final test run before the game’s full release on March 5. It marks a significant milestone for fans who have long awaited a fresh competitive experience from the industry-leading developer.
Industry insiders report that Sony remains “highly confident” in the project following positive playtest feedback, even as Bungie fine-tunes the experience to challenge top-tier extraction shooters.
