The developers are placing a significant emphasis on the depth and detail of the game’s vehicles.
Liquid Swords, the studio founded by the creator of Just Cause, recently addressed community inquiries regarding their upcoming project, Samson.
The development team shared insights into their creative inspirations and the vision behind the game:
Samson: A Tyndalston Story is set against the backdrop of the 1990s. As a team of industry veterans who grew up in the 80s and 90s, the iconic action sequences from cult films like “Ronin” and “Heat” are practically in our DNA and serve as the core inspiration for our vision.
The developers behind Samson bring extensive experience to the table, including work on the Mad Max game adaptation. This expertise is being channeled into their current project:
Several members of our team were involved in designing the vehicle combat system for “Mad Max.” We’ve leveraged years of refinement to craft the driving mechanics in “Samson,” specifically adapting them for the dense, vibrant urban environment of Tyndalston. Whether it’s high-stakes precision driving, hunting down targets, or outrunning the law—every facet has a place in the game!
The studio also emphasized that every vehicle in the game is unique and handcrafted. Their aesthetics and handling characteristics are based on real-world prototypes. The game utilizes the robust physics and handling models of Unreal Engine 5.7, incorporating authentic data to define physical vehicle parameters.
Furthermore, the driving mechanics have been meticulously tuned to ensure that players of all skill levels find the experience satisfying and responsive.
Vehicles are composed of individual parts, and any component can be damaged, directly impacting road performance. For example, a blown tire will severely reduce traction, while losing a wheel at high speeds could cause the car to roll over.
Law enforcement will represent a major threat within the game world. Police officers will respond to crimes dynamically, utilizing patrol units, setting up strategic roadblocks, and deploying helicopters for aerial pursuit.
