Classic GameCube launch title Luigi’s Mansion is returning to Nintendo’s Classics collection on October 30, arriving on the Nintendo Switch 2 just ahead of Halloween. It joins five other GameCube-era additions: F-Zero GX, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Super Mario Strikers, Chibi-Robo!, and Soulcalibur 2.

Although the Luigi’s Mansion series now spans three entries, the original remains a particular favorite for many players. Beyond nostalgia, the first game introduced Luigi’s reluctant ghost-hunting persona and the Poltergust 3000, and it preserves a genuinely creepier atmosphere and more unsettling spirits than the lighter, more cartoonish scares of later installments.

The game is available through the GameCube Classics Library, a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive included with the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. A single-account Expansion Pack subscription costs $49.99 per year, while a family plan — covering up to eight accounts — is $79.99 annually. The Expansion Pack also provides access to libraries from the Game Boy Advance, N64, and Sega Genesis, as well as DLC such as the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass and Animal Crossing: New Horizons — Happy Home Paradise.

With the October 30 release, the entire Luigi’s Mansion trilogy will be playable on the Nintendo Switch 2. While the original is cherished for its unnerving tone and early-game mechanics, both Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (reissued on Switch as Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD) and Luigi’s Mansion 3 have earned strong critical acclaim. Grab your flashlight and Poltergust, and get ready for a haunting marathon with the full trilogy.
