Over the last two decades, Konno pivoted into a production role, overseeing major releases like Nintendogs and the massive success of Mario Kart 8. He was also instrumental in the hardware side of the business, serving as a producer for the Nintendo 3DS launch.
Having spent 40 years shaping the DNA of Nintendo’s most celebrated series—most notably acting as the guiding hand for the Mario Kart franchise—Konno leaves behind an unparalleled legacy. His absence will certainly be felt in future projects, and we wish him the very best in his next chapter.
