Theatrical listings in the United States have provided a first look at the duration of the upcoming science fiction feature “Project Hail Mary.” The film, led by Ryan Gosling, is set to span 2 hours and 46 minutes.
The narrative follows Ryland Grace (Gosling), a middle-school teacher who awakens aboard a starship with no memory of his identity or mission, only to find himself the sole survivor alongside two deceased crewmates. As he painstakingly reconstructs his past, Grace realizes he is humanity’s last hope to avert a global extinction event. In his cosmic struggle, he receives unexpected assistance from an extraterrestrial being that communicates through melodic sequences.
The production is an adaptation of the acclaimed novel by Andy Weir, the author behind “The Martian.” Directorial duties were handled by the duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (“21 Jump Street”), while the supporting cast includes Sandra Hüller, known for her standout performance in “Anatomy of a Fall.”
“Project Hail Mary” is scheduled for its US theatrical debut on March 20.
