2XKO’s closed beta began on September 9, arriving six years after the project’s initial reveal as Project L in 2019. Cannon previously told Edge the title returned to research and development after its announcement, which contributed to the lengthy gap before public testing. Director Shaun Rivera has said he wants the game to stand alongside established fighters such as Street Fighter.
Cannon added that early access will be used to polish in-season systems — including the Battle Pass, Ranked mode, and balance adjustments — and that there will be no more content resets once early access begins: everything earned during early access will remain in players’ accounts.
While we wait for October 7, here are the best fighting games you can play right now.
