Lars Eidinger to play the villain in the Superman sequel

Acclaimed German actor Lars Eidinger is set to portray the iconic villain Brainiac in James Gunn’s upcoming sequel, titled Superman: Man of Tomorrow. The narrative is expected to see Clark Kent forced into an uneasy dynamic with his perennial rival, Lex Luthor, as they both confront this new cosmic threat.

James Gunn, the co-head of DC Studios, will once again take the reins as both screenwriter and director for the high-stakes follow-up.

Eidinger has built a distinguished career in international festival cinema. He is widely recognized for his captivating performances in projects such as Persian Lessons, Personal Shopper, Dying, and Aleksey Uchitel’s Matilda.

The global theatrical debut of Superman: Man of Tomorrow is currently scheduled for July 9, 2027.
