Divinity – Cinematic Announcement Trailer – YouTube

Beyond the technical ambition and heightened expectations, morale at the studio has seen a significant boost. The development team is reportedly re-energized by returning to their homegrown IP, a creative spark that Vincke suggests was somewhat stifled by the requirements of the D&D project.
“Our goal is to craft the most exceptional experience possible,” he said. “The fact that we are genuinely thrilled about what we’re building is the most important factor. To be honest, that level of excitement wasn’t always present while we were immersed in the D&D ecosystem.”
While Baldur’s Gate 3 catapulted Larian into a new tier of industry status, it required a fundamental shift in their creative process. For the first time in decades, the studio stepped away from Divinity to carry the mantle of a legendary franchise governed by strict, pre-existing rules.
Integrating Larian’s signature chaotic systems into the Dungeons & Dragons rulebook was undoubtedly a challenge, even if the final product showed no signs of friction. Now, with the shackles of external licensing removed, the team has total creative autonomy over the next Divinity chapter. For fans and developers alike, it sounds like a natural 20 for creative freedom.
