Larian assures new Divinity game will not use generative AI
Fans have reacted to the news regarding the activists whose influence may lead to a much longer wait for the upcoming title.
Swen Vincke, the CEO of Larian Studios, has officially confirmed that the next installment in the Divinity franchise will be entirely free of any content produced by generative artificial intelligence.
To ensure there is no room for doubt: we have decided to completely forgo the use of generative AI tools, even at the initial concept art stage.
This move establishes Larian Studios as one of the first major developers to issue an unequivocal and public rejection of generative AI technologies.
While the majority of the gaming community welcomed the announcement, a segment of the audience expressed concern that bowing to activist pressure could result in a significantly extended development timeline for Larian’s next big project.
