Konami is asking players which Metal Gear titles they’d most like to see remade — spanning the MSX2 originals all the way to Metal Gear Solid V.
A few days ahead of the tenth anniversary of Metal Gear Solid V — the most recent mainline entry — Konami released Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a faithful remake many regard as the series’ high point. Around the same period, Konami also returned to Silent Hill with a remake of its most celebrated entry and followed up with a new, original title. That momentum suggests Konami may be planning additional Metal Gear remakes.
Most significantly, Question 10 asks respondents which Metal Gear entries they’d like remade. The options cover almost every main series game (with the exception of MGS3), from the MSX2 classics Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake through Peace Walker and the Metal Gear Solid V duo — Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. There’s also an “Other” choice for requests such as a remake of Metal Gear Rising or the Acid titles.
While more remakes seemed likely anyway — especially after Konami confirmed a Silent Hill 1 remake — the inclusion of Metal Gear Solid V is somewhat surprising given how contemporary it still feels. Personally, I’d welcome an expanded rebuild of the original MSX2 games to unify their stories (considering later retcons and narrative changes), but the safest bet for the next remake remains Metal Gear Solid 1.
Silent Hill f’s Metacritic score lines up with Silent Hill 3 but doesn’t quite match the acclaim of the franchise’s earliest entries or the 2024 Silent Hill 2 remake.
