Kaiju No. 8 Anime to Get Final Season and Narumi Short Film — TOHO Reveals First Teaser

Kafka Hibino’s saga is set to reach its grand finale in the upcoming third season.

During the Jump Festa ’26 event, it was officially revealed that the “Kaiju No. 8” anime, based on the celebrated manga by Naoya Matsumoto, will return for a third season. Furthermore, a special spin-off episode titled “Narumi’s Days,” centered on Gen Narumi, has also been greenlit.

While specific details regarding the premiere date or production timeline remain undisclosed, Production I.G has confirmed that the project is currently in active development.

The narrative follows Kafka Hibino, a man who once fell short of his childhood dream to join the Japan Anti-Kaiju Defense Force. After a mysterious encounter leaves him with the ability to transform into a monster, he finds an unexpected opportunity to prove his resolve and protect humanity from the shadows.

The anime debuted with a 12-episode first season in April 2024, followed by a second part in July 2025. This news arrives as Naoya Matsumoto concludes the 16th volume of the manga, marking the end of a five-year serialization journey. The third season is slated to be the final chapter of the adaptation, covering the remaining arcs of the source material.
