Yuki Nishio, localization manager at CD Projekt Red, shared this curiosity, wondering what kind of groundbreaking innovations Rockstar will introduce. Meanwhile, legendary SNK art director Nobuyuki Kuroki expressed absolute confidence in the sequel’s potential impact. “I have incredibly high expectations for GTA 6,” he stated. “I believe it will completely redefine player expectations and serve as a generational milestone for the industry.”

For some developers, the excitement is purely personal. “My most anticipated game for 2026 is undoubtedly GTA 6,” said Yoo Hyung-seok, director of Goddess of Victory: Nikke. “I’ve been a dedicated fan since the second installment, and because every new chapter consistently delivers surprises, I can’t wait to see what’s next.”

Naoki Hamaguchi, the director behind Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, noted that Rockstar’s work influences his own creative process. “I’m looking forward to the next GTA because, as a developer, I find the level of craftsmanship in their worlds deeply inspiring.” Masayoshi Yokoyama, the producer behind the Like a Dragon series, kept his thoughts brief: “GTA 6. Just release it, please.”

The consensus among these Japanese creative leads is that GTA 6 will likely reshape the gaming landscape with fresh concepts. “The eyes of the entire world are on this project,” noted Akitoshi Kawazu, the designer behind the SaGa series. “The scale and depth will surely be impressive. We’ll be watching closely to see what modern players find most engaging about it.”

“I believe GTA 6 will provide a true glimpse into the future of gaming,” said Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino. “With the advancement of modern hardware, I’m hoping to witness development feats that were previously thought impossible.”

Even those whose personal interests lie elsewhere admit they cannot look away. Sony localization manager Ryuki Ishii noted, “GTA 6 is the obvious choice. Its sheer influence on the industry cannot be ignored.” However, when asked about his private wishlist, he mentioned titles like Nioh 3, Crimson Desert, and Romeo is a Dead Man.

It seems the industry’s elite will be monitoring Rockstar’s progress with bated breath, regardless of their own genre preferences.

A former Rockstar technical director suggests GTA 6 likely won’t hit the $100 price tag, crediting the success of GTA Online for keeping entry costs accessible.
