According to the new rules, fans are prohibited from creating cutscene-only compilations or reproducing screenshots in physical books. Regarding plot details, the publisher stated: “Please refrain from posting spoilers. To preserve the experience for others, any content featuring major narrative developments must be clearly marked with a spoiler warning.” More specifically, Square Enix has placed a moratorium on streaming or sharing imagery of any gameplay occurring after the Malign Shrine: Throne Room boss battle until February 5, 2026.
Ignoring these mandates could carry significant consequences. Square Enix warned that non-compliance may lead to more than just a content takedown, stating: “If you fail to follow these guidelines, Square Enix reserves the right to temporarily or permanently suspend your access to the game.”

Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii recently discussed the “key difference” between his series and Final Fantasy, noting that while FF protagonists are highly vocal, DQ heroes are designed so that players “become” the character.
