Jennifer Hale on Shepard’s Potential Return – YouTube

Although BioWare remains at the helm of the franchise, the project’s current trajectory is shrouded in mystery. The studio has faced significant headwinds recently, including internal restructuring and the polarizing reception of *Dragon Age: The Veilguard*. Furthermore, rumors surrounding Electronic Arts’ long-term corporate strategy have sparked debate about the future of its flagship developer subsidiaries.
This isn’t the first time Hale has expressed her devotion to the series. She has consistently stated that she would jump at the chance to return, a sentiment echoed by Mark Meer, the voice of the male Commander Shepard. Both actors have made it clear they are eager to lead the Normandy once more, having reiterated their interest as recently as late 2024.
Whether Shepard fits into BioWare’s new vision remains to be seen. However, Hale’s advice holds weight: if you want the Commander back, the power lies with the fans to make their voices heard—respectfully, of course.
A former BioWare executive recently suggested that the Mass Effect team should leverage the lessons (and fallout) of Dragon Age: The Veilguard to secure the specific resources they need from EA.
