The anticipation for the long-awaited release continues to build.
Recently, a fresh “leak” has been making waves within the Grand Theft Auto VI community. This time, the spotlight returned to a previous claim made by a user going by the handle Ayershole.
Presenting himself as an “industry insider” who had spoken with a Rockstar employee, this individual alleged that the delay of GTA VI was due to massive technical hurdles. According to his claims, the developers had supposedly failed the certification process 36 times. He noted that while some titles might fail five or six times, failing more than 30 times in a row would be “absolutely insane.”
These claims drew a sharp rebuttal from ferzetto, a professional with firsthand experience managing the certification process at Microsoft. He detailed exactly why Ayershole’s narrative doesn’t hold water:
I previously oversaw the certification process at Microsoft, and I can tell you that no game goes through certification 36 times—not even remotely. While it’s true that some studios submit builds they know will fail just to stay on a schedule, the average is typically 2 to 3 attempts. There are rare exceptions where it might take 5 or 6, but 30-plus is unheard of. Sometimes games are submitted ‘hot’ right as they finish, but certification is the final stage. I wouldn’t say that ‘many’ games, whether AAA or indie, reach this point without being content-complete. If your content isn’t ready by the time you’re seeking certification, you’re in major trouble. Ultimately, GTA VI likely only went through the process once when they were aiming for a May release window. This person is simply making things up.
