Godbreakers – Release Date Trailer | PS5 Games – YouTube

The core systems are refreshingly straightforward, and the moment-to-moment feel is solid straight away. As I started stacking passives—backstab multipliers, random enemy debuffs, extra max health—I subtly adjusted how I played to lean into those bonuses. In a full four-player party, those passive synergies could snowball into some very entertaining combinations.
Progressing through rooms of foes in beautifully realized sci-fantasy arenas is satisfying on its own, but the biome boss I encountered stole the show. For that area, the encounter was a giant floating skull that summons adds, begins damage phases with a wide-area attack you dodge behind cover, and periodically slams down red AoE pillars with tentacles and energy beams. It borrows a little from MMO encounter design and slots neatly into the game’s combat loop. There doesn’t seem to be a dedicated lock-on, but aiming and movement never felt hindered. I downed the boss on my first run—the developers say the demo biomes are intentionally tuned easier—and I almost requeued straight away.
Overall, Godbreakers is approachable, sports a chunky, colorful low-poly style I find endlessly appealing, and offers decent RPG-lite progression. It isn’t Hades 2-level in my book, but it’s precisely the sort of cooperative action title I want to play with friends—and it’s compelling enough to spend time with solo too.
