Hypixel CEO Simon Collins-Laflamme has unveiled an ambitious new roadmap for Hytale, shifting the studio toward a more rapid development cycle. The plan introduces a weekly pre-release update system alongside major monthly patches, a strategy designed to let the team spend “more time building and less time shipping.”

In a detailed announcement shared via X, Collins-Laflamme distinguished between the frequent weekly experimental builds and the larger, more stable official releases. “Moving forward, we’re going to be much more adventurous with the pre-release patchline,” he noted. “It will be updated every week and may be intentionally unstable; this is the sandbox where we’ll test new features, major overhauls, and rapid iterations.”

He acknowledged that the team might occasionally pause the schedule for holidays or staff breaks, but the core objective remains constant: once the pre-release branch reaches a polished state, those improvements will be rolled into a public launch. “When we’re confident in the stability of the pre-release—whether that’s after one week or several—we’ll schedule the official release and keep everyone informed,” he added.

Collins-Laflamme explained that typically, about five pre-release iterations will culminate in a single, comprehensive major patch. To simplify the process, he clarified that if five snapshots are released to the testing branch, the final public update will consolidate all five into one package.

Concluding his message, the CEO emphasized that the studio will provide early warnings so players and creators can secure their mods and server data before changes go live. Since Hypixel took the reins of Hytale’s trajectory, the project’s momentum has accelerated significantly, much to the excitement of the community.

“Hytale is a forever game”: Following a triumphant return, the studio head insists the title “will continue to evolve as long as gaming exists.”
