When filtering for users with over three hours of gameplay, Highguard’s Steam rating leaps from “Mostly Negative” to “Mostly Positive,” with a 76% approval rate. This disparity isn’t entirely shocking; players who enjoy a game are naturally more likely to keep playing, while those facing game-breaking performance issues will likely refund or quit long before hitting the three-hour mark. It is essentially a process of elimination.
Nevertheless, these filtered reviews suggest that players who engage with Highguard’s core mechanics—rather than just dismissing it as a “Concord” derivative—often find a more rewarding experience. This isn’t to say the game is without flaws. Many argue the maps feel too expansive for the 3v3 format, leading to tedious stretches of looting rather than action. Yet, the game appears far more robust and competent than the initial social media backlash might lead you to believe.
In response to the mixed reception, the developers have stated they are “listening closely to community feedback” and are currently working on a patch to introduce several highly requested features.
