HD Texture Mod Released for GTA IV RTX Remaster, Improving Surface and Material Quality
The modding community is taking the lead in revitalizing Rockstar’s iconic open-world classic.
The unofficial RTX overhaul for Grand Theft Auto IV has become a collaborative effort, extending far beyond the initial work of lead developer xoxor4d.
Modder DarkoRTX has unveiled a specialized HD texture suite that dramatically enhances the fidelity of environmental surfaces and materials. He highlighted that this project is a true remaster rather than a simple automated upscale:
A significant portion of Liberty City’s architecture, thoroughfares, and sidewalks has already been meticulously updated. These textures are rendered in 2K and 4K resolutions: “depending on the specific asset requirements — balancing peak visual quality with optimized file sizes.”
The “DarkoRTX proper GTA IV RTX Remix Texture Remaster” is currently available as a free download for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV via Nexus Mods.
