Today is such a day that I can send my wishes into space like signals, and seriously expect them to materialize. Therefore, I will share six things that I would dream to see in GTA 6. I’ll say right away that there won’t be talks about trite matters like a quick release, 60 FPS, etc. here — only personal desires formed in a mind obsessed with Grand Theft Auto.
Music Streaming
The debate over the pros and cons of streaming is long, but that doesn’t negate the fact that it’s now indispensable in daily life. Music streaming is even more accessible, for instance, compared to streaming movies and series, and it can also be used as musical filler. Of course, the people in charge at Rockstar will not disappoint, but after all, choice is everything. So why not integrate Apple Music or Spotify? For developers, it’s an opportunity to let players play literally anything available in the libraries, and avoid promoting piracy (which was implied with the use of Independence FM, Advanced Track Player, and other “homemade” radio stations in the series), and for platform holders — to gain more subscribers and listens. Looks like a win-win partnership, doesn’t it? But seems hard to implement? Who, if not Rockstar, to blur the line between bold ideas and worthy implementations?
More French Cars
Is it just me or were there not as many cars inspired by the French automotive industry in the fifth installment as there were from other Europeans? Of course, they exist. And yes, technically a Citroën Xsara Picasso (would love to see how the devs would reinterpret and name this model) is more popular in Europe itself, and in the States, it is more of an exotic rarity. But encountering a “Sara” there has higher odds than encountering the same flying motorcycle. So, give us more voitures!
Drug Trafficking Instead of Heists
If persistent rumors about a love-struck bank robbers’ story are true, then it seems like a repetition of the recent past. Consider this: parallels between Bonnie and Clyde and Trevor with Michael are not so far-fetched. In both cases, there were raids for profit, complicated relationships which could also be called love (sexual subtext aside), working as a team. So, all of this will be in the sixth part? Then, maybe it’s better to develop the story in another direction? To dive into the theme of drug trafficking, gang clashes over cocaine, and everything related, there’s no city in GTA more perfect than Vice City. Yes, we’ve already sniffed the money from this business in GTA Online, but it all felt somewhat superficial. Now it’s time to truly feel like the real Tony Montana with fresh mechanics in a new world.
Co-op
Adding the first-person view in the updated GTA 5 was a bold move, made for the first time within the franchise. We need more of that. The presence of two closely connected main characters is practically screaming for the addition of a cooperative mode. Of course, making the game exclusively for two people is not feasible — it would significantly reduce the target audience. And R* wouldn’t do that. Generally, lately, they focus on providing more for single players. But not implementing a co-op gameplay option would be to miss the perfect moment. However, it’d necessitate a change in mission structure, as dynamic switching between protagonists, as was the case with Michael, Franklin, and Trevor, would lose its purpose.
Parody of X (formerly Twitter)
Changes to the platform, recently known as “Twitter,” can be called the biggest downgrade in modern Internet. The new owner is determined to turn a great social network into a true cesspool of bots, fakes, and other delights of “absolute freedom of speech.” Despite the fact that the first trailer focused on video content from the game’s analog of Instagram/TikTok, I think a parody of X is due. It would be a sin not to mock it. I can even see how to update Bleeter. We take Y, an unblemished letter at the end of the alphabet, and next to it, in the line where users share their very important opinion for everyone, there will be a phrase “You writing here”. So that it looks something like: Y (why) you writting here… And all of this tied with what was called “Social Club”. Yes, a very specific and peculiar request. But today, one can afford it.
Defining the New “Online”
At some point, the question of the name for GTA 6 hung in the air. It seemed that the new part might be titled differently, but it worked out. Now it’s curious how the continuation of “Online” will be handled. Will they leave it as GTA Online (the worst option), add a two to it (the most logical), or something completely new (intriguing)? In my opinion, considering GTA VI Online isn’t even necessary. Overall, what will they offer us under the guise of a new multiplayer? A model that’s been tested over a decade, or will they come up with something fresh? After all, the multiplayer modes of “four” and “five” are completely different, although the second is a development of the idea of the first. The main thing is that, just like 10 and a half years ago, the release of GTA 6 happens a couple of weeks before the launch of the new “Online.” Now, we will need even more time to explore and complete the single player.
