Since the publication of a large amount of content showcasing GTA 6, there’s been a decrease in false or unverifiable information. However, it hasn’t disappeared completely. Let’s consider some of the most interesting cases.
On the social network X (formerly Twitter), many Rockstar Games employees can be found. They are usually identified by photos of exclusive merchandise. There are also accounts that impersonate “rock stars” but actually aren’t. One such account posted a screenshot of PS5 trophies. Naturally, the image was low resolution with suspicious numbers, claiming that 6 out of 58 trophies (7% of the total) were collected in 23 hours. This could be possible if only the storyline missions were played. But the deception was exposed — the image was fake. Subsequently, the “company’s illustrator” (how could someone in such a position access a test launch?) shared a “confirming” video, but it was also unconvincing.
License plates from Liberty City and Gloriana prompted fans to debate whether the metropolis from past parts and a second state will appear in “six.” To lend credibility, someone created visitgloriana.com, which redirects to the game’s section on the developer’s official website. The same goes for visitleonida.com. As expected, verification showed that those who registered both domains have no affiliation with Take-Two.
On Reddit, there are frequent posts from people claiming to work at R* and spilling various details about Grand Theft Auto VI. It’s not particularly useful to go through all these stories since most consist of wishes and guesses. However, one list, not from Reddit but from X (formerly Twitter), caught the community’s attention. (And gives us food for thought).
- Wanted stars back to six. (Symbolic).
- The relationship slider from the 2022 leaks is present. Works like honor in RDR 2. (Went to the strip club alone — Lucia got jealous?)
- There is male striptease. (She decided to retaliate — went to watch herself).
- Radar is rectangular, with pink GPS navigator dots. (Makes sense.)
- The scene from the second trailer, where the guy buys beer, is gameplay, not a cutscene. (This has already been assumed online).
- The character wheel is divided into three parts: Jason, Lucia, and both protagonists simultaneously. The latter option is used in missions and during robberies. (We’ve long suspected cooperative play, but how playing as both simultaneously works is unclear).
- The main character’s special ability is similar to Dead Eye from Red Dead (slowing time and shooting weak spots). The heroine has something similar, but with one shot, which deals heavy damage. This is related to the young man serving in the army and being more skilled with weapons. (Honestly, we hope this isn’t the case. These or similar features were already implemented in GTA 5 and westerns, and we’d like something completely new).
- Crouching, as seen in leaks, has been removed. (Very unfortunate, it’s a great mechanic).
- The ability to gain/lose weight. (But why?)
- No mini-games for breaking into houses. (What’s the point of them? The “six” isn’t about that).
- Pedestrians react if walking with a weapon in hand. (Not hard to guess).
- The arsenal is limited — the rest is transported in the trunk. (Fans have dreamed of this for a long time, and cramming an RPG into your pocket is already no longer a joke).
- Dual wielding, i.e., firing from both hands, is not implemented. (For this, we’ll have a Max Payne remake).
- Gore and dismemberment are based on those in Red Dead Redemption II. (Excellent!)
- The car handling has never been better. (Really?)
- Listening to music outside the car is impossible. (Then what’s the point of the wireless headphones in the screenshots? For communication with other characters? Or is it a useless accessory like in GTA Online?)
- The game world is an island, without a northwestern protrusion like Florida. (The map is slowly taking shape).
- An explorable underwater world with treasures and secrets. (This has been done before, and should definitely be included now).
- Shopping malls and skyscrapers with elevators you can enter. (Another long-standing dream).
- More than 700 stores, and most interiors are part of the open world. (It would be cool, but doubtful).
- The sunny state will have no parody of Disney World. (Avoiding the possibility of a lawsuit from the famous company?)
- The story has chapters like RDR 2, totaling five. Footage from trailer 2 is taken from the first three. (Previous parts of the series are also divided, although conditionally).
- A character named Donny, a friend of Jason who works for Brian, is described as a freak. (Even if not true, it’s a good mockery).
- There will be no fully nude intimate scenes. (Modders, be ready to make sex in video games great again).
As we can see, the list is contentious. But why was it worth paying attention to? Because the user who shared it correctly predicted the protagonists’ last names two weeks before the big reveal on May 6 (he only missed one letter in Duvall, presumably because he heard them and didn’t see them written). His sources were acquaintances whose friends work at Rockstar. Of course, this doesn’t guarantee anything, but it makes it harder to ignore the claims.
GTA 6 conversation has sort of dried up by now, so hey here’s a fun question.
What do you guys think Jason and Lucia’s last names are?
My guesses are Lucia Caminos and Jason Duvall. Why? Because they sound cool, duh.
