Final Fantasy 14 pronounces its third growth, Shadowbringers

At Final Fantasy 14‘s fan-festival today, Square Enix announced the third expansion for their increasingly popular MMORPG. Shadowbringers ups the ante, story-wise, promising players the chance to finally take on the technologically advanced Garlean empire directly. Of course, there’s yet one more world-ending risk to cope with too. On prime of the same old new courses and a raised stage cap, Shadowbringers can also be introducing the “Trust” system, bringing NPC occasion members exterior of dungeons. Check the cinematic trailer and a peek on the Blue Mage side-class beneath.

There’s a lot of stuff coming this growth. Multiple new courses, a brand new playable race (strongly hinted because the Viera, Fran’s rabbit-eared amazons folks from FF12 et al), and the choice to go to different area’s servers so you may play with associates all over the world. There will after all be a bundle of latest zones – I’m wanting to see some Garlean cities up shut – and new Beast Tribes launched to do god-slaying and side-quests for. The first would be the Nu Mou, the lovable floppy-eared, long-tailed Moomin-like folks from the Tactics Advance sequence, who I can’t wait to see in 3D.

Story-wise, it sounds just like the Scions (the participant’s band of heroes) are cruising for a bruising, and one other tragic fall earlier than placing themselves collectively once more. Building on the episodic post-Heavensward, the participant – the Warrior Of Light – will apparently be known as on to turn into the ‘Warrior Of Darkness’ to be able to take down some new divine risk.  JRPG boilerplate, granted, however FF14 has been persistently nicely written to this point, so I’m nonetheless on board to see the place that is going. ‘Killing god’ loses a few of its narrative edge while you’ve already killed about twenty already although.

On prime of all of that is the Blue Mage, a brand new ‘limited class’ that will probably be launching someday earlier than Shadowbringers in a free replace for all. Initially capped at stage 50 (presumably as a consequence of their complexity), they provide a really distinctive play-style, studying new skills from monsters and managers they’ve studied whereas defeating. There’ll even be an ‘All blue, all the time’ duty-finder, so a whole occasion of those oddballs can rampage by means of a dungeon collectively and learn to (actually) throw down like a boss. Eventually their stage cap will probably be raised, permitting them into later expansions.

Shadowbringers is because of launch “Early Summer 2019”, preceded by the fifth and closing episodic replace to Stormblood a while in Spring. More particulars are to be introduced over the weekend. Check out the official Shadowbringers page here.
