“Expect nothing and you won’t be disappointed,” insiders tell fans waiting for a November Half‑Life 3 announcement — they suggest going outside and relaxing

Some players are holding very high expectations. Eager Valve fans were asked to temper their hopes.

There are Half-Life devotees who are anxiously awaiting a new game announcement in November 2025. They’re combing every corner for possible “Valve teasers.”

However, prominent community blogger and dataminer Gabe Follower recently addressed the community: “Expect nothing, and you won’t be disappointed.”

He reported that he couldn’t secure confirmation that a trailer for a new project is being prepared:

No — there’s no new information. I haven’t been able to obtain any confirmation that a trailer is in development, nor any indication it will be shown in the next few weeks. It’s still only 2025; I have no idea where the rumors of an announcement this week came from.

A statement from another well-known insider, Tyler McVicker, was published the same day as Gabe Follower’s — he called it a coincidence.

Tyler said the noise had reached a level that made him uncomfortable, so he “poured a little cold water” on expectations to help people see the situation more realistically.

Just because we don’t know the exact announcement date, and because Valve can always shift its plans, that doesn’t mean the game doesn’t exist or has been canceled.

The current rumour points to a 2025 announcement and concerns Valve software. But Valve can behave like Valve and announce nothing, and Gabe F and I are simply reminding people that no November reveal doesn’t mean HLX is canceled or imaginary.

HLX has been in production since at least 2021. I love the hope and joy in the community, but some of the over-the-top behaviour could spoil things. Take a breath, go for a walk — the game is almost here.
