Lately, a segment of the community has encountered a baffling and destructive glitch. After being abruptly disconnected from a session, players find that upon relaunching the game, they are prompted to create a brand-new character as if their entire history had been erased.
A high-profile instance of this occurred during a live broadcast by streamer DrLupo. While he was simply organizing his stash, a notification appeared requiring him to re-log into the client—only for him to discover his progress was completely gone.
Nikita Buyanov, head of Battlestate Games, was quick to address the reports regarding the disappearing accounts:
Necessary measures have already been taken. We are currently conducting a full investigation.
Some users have proposed a theory that malicious actors may have exploited a security flaw in the Escape from Tarkov database to target and reset specific player profiles.
