Endflame Announces Silent Road — Horror About a Night Taxi Driver in Japan

The creators of Ikai return with a new psychological horror.

Endflame, the studio behind the Japanese horror title Ikai, has revealed its latest project — Silent Road, a first-person psychological horror set in a remote, forested part of Japan. The protagonist works as a night taxi driver in a region notorious for its high mortality rate and whispered tales of otherworldly phenomena.

Players will navigate abandoned villages and mist-laden mountain passes, transporting enigmatic passengers and attending to their disturbing requests. Each trip unfolds as a self-contained episode, exposing the personal tragedies of the area’s residents and drawing the player closer to the mystery of the curse that haunts the region.

The developers describe Silent Road as “a descent into the depths of human fear and guilt.” With every fare, passengers grow stranger, the roads colder, and the atmosphere thicker and more unsettling. What begins as an ordinary night shift gradually deteriorates into a psychological nightmare where the boundary between reality and the supernatural fades.

The game is being built in Unreal Engine 5 and is slated to launch on PC in 2026. You can add it to your wishlist on its Steam page.
