It was already expected that the next *Divinity* installment would follow in its predecessors' footsteps by offering cooperative play, but Larian Studios has now provided deeper insights into the feature. The developer confirmed that co-op will be integrated from day one and suggested that the number of players who can journey together might eventually be limitless, thanks to the studio's commitment to modding support.

During a recent Reddit AMA centered on the highly anticipated project, Larian’s technical director, Bert van Semmertier, affirmed that "co-op will be available for release." While *Baldur's Gate 3* traditionally supported groups of two to four, the team appears to be taking a more flexible approach for this new venture.

"The total number of players allowed in a single session will primarily depend on the final party size," van Semmertier noted. "However, since we are planning extensive modding tools for this project, players will effectively have the freedom to expand those boundaries. We aren't setting a hard cap on the number of co-op participants."

Essentially, multiplayer functionality is confirmed for launch, and while the official party limit remains undecided, modders will likely have the power to blow those restrictions wide open. The community will have the final say in just how massive their adventuring parties can become.

The only remaining uncertainty revolves around the release strategy. Larian is expected to utilize an Early Access period once again, though it is currently unclear if co-op will be fully functional during the initial testing phase or if it is reserved for the 1.0 milestone.

In other news, the *Baldur’s Gate 3* director recently clarified the studio's stance on emerging technology, stating that they have chosen to avoid using generative AI tools during the development of concept art for the upcoming *Divinity* title.
