Developer’s Corner 2601003 – Thunder at our Gates

Commanders!

Welcome back to another Developer Corner.

Before we delve into today’s topic, we want to establish a clear framework for these updates. To ensure everyone is on the same page, let’s distinguish between our two primary communication formats:

Developer Diaries

  • Detailed Previews: These provide a deep dive into features that are nearing completion and are currently in the polishing phase.
  • Launch Proximity: You will see these appear as we approach an official release date.
  • Interactive Feedback: This is your opportunity to query the developers directly or point out any critical oversights.
  • Refinement: Issues raised here may be addressed in Day-1 patches or through our ongoing “War Effort” updates.

Developer Corners

In contrast, the post you are reading now serves a different function. These entries:

  • Seek Input: We specifically want your perspective on the concepts presented.
  • Concise Format: These are intended to be brief and focused on a single theme.
  • Conceptual Nature: They may lack screenshots and represent ideas that are not yet guaranteed for final release.
  • Spontaneous Scheduling: These aren’t strictly planned months in advance. When a designer has a concept they wish to test with the community, we’ll slot it into a Tuesday or Thursday window.

A Quick Retrospective

Last week, we initiated our first 2026 Dev Corner focusing on Siam. The volume of high-quality feedback was exceptional, prompting a follow-up post (26001002). If you are interested in our philosophy regarding Limited Wars, Regional Power dynamics, or Internal Faction mechanics, we highly recommend catching up on those reads.

The Road Ahead: Australia

With those definitions established, our next point of discussion is Australia!

As we continue developing Thunder at our Gates—the upcoming DLC for Expansion Pass 2 scheduled for Q2—we want to hear from the frontline players.

When you step into the role of the Australian high command, what aspects of the current gameplay resonate with you? Conversely, what elements feel dated, and what would you like to see added or overhauled? Most importantly, what is your “player fantasy” for the Land Down Under? Are there specific historical figures or unique pieces of military hardware you feel are essential to the experience?

To spark your imagination, here are a few visual cues:
