Community Update: Changes to Challenges and Assignments

We recently rolled out changes that increase XP earned in official matches and lower the XP required for the first 20 attachment ranks.

Building on those improvements, we’re shipping a major revision to Challenges and Assignments informed by gameplay telemetry and player feedback. Several of the changes are substantial, so below we explain our reasoning and highlight key examples.

This update significantly reduces many challenge requirements to cut down on grind while preserving a progression curve that rewards consistent, skillful play. Challenges and Assignments are tuned to specific playtime targets; these adjustments bring requirements into alignment with those targets so objectives are achievable during a typical session.

Assignments will still include objectives attainable through normal play as well as a smaller set that recognize high-level mastery — especially those tied to cosmetic rewards. Where original criteria were unclear or overly punitive, we’ve clarified intent and rebalanced difficulty accordingly.

The first batch of changes has been deployed server-side and is available immediately. Any progress you’ve already made will be re-evaluated automatically when you enter a match and will count toward newly updated Challenges and Assignments.

Our plan for overhauling Challenges and Assignments is extensive and will be delivered across multiple server-side and client-side updates. Expect further adjustments in future patches.

We wanted to get these initial improvements into players’ hands as soon as possible while we continue development. We’ll provide more details about the broader rollout in future updates.

In this initial release we implemented more than 90 adjustments to Challenges and Assignments. Below are representative examples.

Class Challenges

Challenges for Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon now complete far more quickly.

  • Assault 2: Have squadmates deploy on your Spawn Beacon.

    • Requirement reduced from 50 deploys to 5.

  • Support 2: Revive teammates while playing Support.

    • Requirement reduced from 200 revives to 60.

Weapon Assignments

Assignments across weapon categories (ARs, SMGs, LMGs, Shotguns, DMRs, Snipers, Carbines) have been simplified and shortened.

  • Rapid Fire 1 / Assault Rifle: Inflict damage with Assault Rifles.

    • Requirement reduced from 10,000 damage inflicted to 3,000.

Mode & Unit Assignments

Most mode-specific assignments (Conquest, Rush, Breakthrough, Domination, etc.) have been standardized to require two wins per tier, making them easier to pursue with a clear objective.

  • Conquest 2: Wins in Conquest.

    • Requirement reduced from 5 wins to 2.

  • Conquest 3: Objective kills in a round of Conquest.

    • Requirement reduced from 30 objective kills in a round to 10.

Gameplay & Mastery

“Expert” and “Master” assignments that previously leaned on rare, outlier achievements have been retuned to reflect typical match rhythms. Multi-kill, headshot, streak, and revive goals now align more closely with average performance.

  • Explosives Expert 2: Earn multi-kills (2+ kills) using explosives.

    • Requirement reduced from 20 multi-kills to 5.

  • Adaptable 2: Repair damaged vehicles during a life.

    • Requirement reduced from 3,000 vehicle repair points to 500.

Reroll Challenges System

We’ve also refined the reroll system. When you reroll a challenge, Battlefield 6 players will no longer receive a challenge that can only be completed in REDSEC. REDSEC players will still be able to receive additional REDSEC-specific challenges when rerolling. The specific challenge granted by a reroll remains random.

Our goal is to provide clear, attainable objectives where rewards match effort. Most challenges should be completable without excessive time investment; a subset will still demand skill and reward mastery.

These adjustments were guided by community feedback, so please keep sharing constructive input. Report bugs on the EA Forums and join the community on the Battlefield Discord.

See you on the Battlefield.
