Community Content Showcase Vol. 17
Welcome to the latest evolution of our community newsletters! Just as in our previous editions, we will showcase an array of mods in each issue, but now we are also diving deeper into the realm of community-driven content like streaming, video clips, shorts, and art!

Today’s edition is a bit unique. We will be engaging in a conversation with one of our developers, Ethan, whom some of you might remember as Quantumnuke from the early days of Ready or Not modding. Additionally, we’ll touch a little on our potential public appearances this year.

1. Could you please introduce yourself?

I’m Ethan, but many know me as QuantumNuke. Currently, I serve as a junior programmer at VOID, having initially joined the scene as a modder for Ready or Not. VOID brought me on board while I was still at university, first as a part-time contributor, and eventually, I transitioned to a full-time role post-graduation.

2. How long have you been associated with VOID?

I’ve been part of VOID for two years and nine months.

3. When did you commence your modding journey?

Ready or Not was the first game that truly captured my attention for modding. I dabbled with modding other games prior, but nothing gripped me quite like Ready or Not.

4. How extensive was your involvement with Ready or Not?

I began my modding endeavors shortly after the game was publicly released under early access and continued until VOID approached me. During this period, a few other community members were also actively designing mods, which spurred my interest to see what could be achieved and become an active part of the modding community.

5. How did you feel when VOID reached out to you?

It was an astonishing experience. I’d heard tales of modders being formally recruited, but never imagined it for myself. Knowing that my work had caught the eye of a studio was immensely satisfying. Sure, watching mod downloads rise and reading user feedback was rewarding, but receiving something as personal and meaningful as a job offer was on a whole other level, especially for a game I had been so invested in.

6. Has working in GameDev altered your perspective on the industry?

Without a doubt. As a player, I never really understood the intricate processes behind game development or the difficulties that teams face on a regular basis. I used to be the first to critique bugs or delays, but my experience in the industry has completely reshaped my understanding and appreciation for the complexities developers navigate through.

7. Do you have any advice for aspiring game developers or budding modders?

Get started on something, and persist through the challenges you face. Experiment with different concepts, see projects through to completion, and share your creations with the community. The experience you gain from actively contributing is invaluable, and your dedication and passion will definitely be noticed.

8. Would you like to convey anything to our player community?

We deeply appreciate your support. Witnessing your enjoyment of the game and receiving your feedback, whether positive or constructive, means a lot to us as developers.

Regarding our public appearances.
This year, especially moving into the second quarter, we fully plan on attending more gaming-focused events to enhance our connection with the community and to expand our presence among peers, following the lead of many prominent studios.

Further details will be shared before each event we attend, outlining the roles we will take on. If you happen to spot us, please don’t hesitate to approach and engage with us—we should be easy to identify in a crowd, and we might have some special items for our dedicated fans.

Looking ahead, we are eager to see what more the community will contribute as we continue updating the game to provide modders with additional tools and possibilities to enhance their creations.
