Emmy Award winner Johan Renck, acclaimed for his work on Chernobyl and Spaceman, has been tapped to direct the live-action Assassin’s Creed series. According to Variety, the filmmaker will bring the iconic video game franchise to the small screen.

The production is set to debut on Netflix, featuring Toby Wallace (The Bikeriders) and Lola Petticrew (Say Nothing) in leading roles. The project’s creative direction is being spearheaded by Robert Patino (Westworld) and David Wiener (Halo).

The original game launched in 2007, chronicling the centuries-old conflict between the Brotherhood of Assassins and the Templar Order, two factions driven by opposing philosophies. This new series follows the 2016 cinematic adaptation, which famously starred Michael Fassbender.
