Capcom Finally Remembers Game Optimization, Boosting Resident Evil Requiem Sales

Resident Evil Requiem has already emerged as the highest-rated title of 2026, significantly amping up the hype surrounding its official debut.

On OpenCritic, the project has claimed the top spot in the annual rankings, boasting an impressive average score of 8.8/10.

While the majority of critics have lauded Capcom’s latest installment, the reception wasn’t without its detractors. Outlets such as Region Free and the Daily Mirror issued 6/10 ratings, pointing toward certain anachronistic design choices and a narrative drive that feels less compelling than its predecessor.

These stellar reviews translated directly into commercial momentum for digital pre-orders. On Steam, the game skyrocketed to the top of the revenue charts, even surpassing global mainstays like Counter-Strike 2.

PC performance has been a particular highlight for early adopters. According to hardware benchmarks from TechPowerUp featuring 34 different GPUs, even owners of the GeForce RTX 3060 can achieve native 1080p gameplay at maximum settings (excluding ray tracing) while maintaining a fluid frame rate well above 60 fps. It appears Capcom has avoided the technical pitfalls that plagued the launches of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the latest Monster Hunter.
